Brothers:
Peace! I hope that the summer is treating all well and your finding some time for rest and relaxation. I'm writing from Nashville, Tn. Where I officiated at a wedding. Beautiful, fun city if you've never been here like myself.
I've been following the controversy from the Supreme Convention regarding the change in regalia for the 4th Degree and to tell you the truth, I'm not thrilled. However, I've been through this kind of thing before. As a young priest, it was not fashionable for priests to wear cassocks and the collar, in some places suit and tie was suggested or popular, all in an attempt to be relevant in the modern world. That didn't work out as cassocks and the collar made a big comeback. Moral of the story, BE PATIENT!
Secondly, this has little to do with our mission as Catholic gentlemen and Knights, to be the strongest defenders of the Faith and disciples of Christ in our good works for our brothers and sisters. If we do that, it won't matter what we are wearing.
I've never been in the Color Guard of the Fourth Degree but I understand that some feel dishonored and hurt by this change. You don't need to like the change but we above all, must be obedient and faithful servants, despite our personal feelings. Don't become bitter and threaten to leave the Order! Instead be humble and faithful and any change, in this matter, or any other will succeed or fail according to Gods Will.
I'm praying for all of you and hope to see you soon!
May God bless us and may Mary Keep Us Always in His love.
