Brothers:
We’re finding ourselves on the edge of our Fall/Winter seasons and I’m sure all of us will be experiencing busier times, family gatherings, holiday celebrations and all that comes with those realities. It’s easy at these times to forget our brothers and sisters who might need us more than ever. They might be alone, sensing their loss of a loved one, or someone who needs advocacy with family members, a doctor or social service agency; we might be able to help in a myriad of ways and should if we can. These are good times also, for increased devotion and attention to our prayer lives; attendance at Mass and the Rosary. Living out our promise of Charity requires spiritual strength, grace to step up and to persevere. Our holidays and celebrations will be all the more delightful if we help others in there time of need during these special times, which can be times of heightened anxiety for them. Remember God will not be outdone in generosity! May God bless us and may Mary keep us always in His love! Fr. Corey Brothers:
We’re soon closing out our Summer and moving towards the beautiful season of Fall. October brings us to another month dedicated to the Mother of God, Mary our Queen. Please put your Rosary in your pocket and say a decade while driving, standing in line at the store, waiting in the doctors office, etc. Praise God through Mary, get closer to Jesus through Mary, receive the graces of the Holy Spirit, through Mary! Become like Mary, Holy, Giving, A person for others. She is our model as Knights. Get ready for cooler weather and gear up for coming events as a Council for aiding others. God has plans to work with you, through Mary! If you can, say a Hail Mary for your Chaplain! I’ll be saying them for you. May God bless us and may Mary keep us always in His love! Fr. Corey Brothers:
You can’t tell by the thermometer but May is upon us and what joy this month can bring. First, we are still celebrating the Resurrection of our Savior and our deliverance from death. This is cause for great joy! Secondly, May is the month of Mary our Mother. As Knights she holds a special place in our hearts. During May we should seek to come ever closer to her and beg her power against temptation and sin. Begin again to carry the Rosary we received as Knights and pray her Mysteries to come closer and closer to her. In turn she will bring us closer to her Son. Lastly, observe and give thanks for the beauty of Spring. This season like our faith, speaks of new life which brings joy and hopefulness. Smile at nature and smile because we are saved! Alleluia, Christ is Risen! May God bless us and may Mary keep us always in His love! Fr. Corey Brothers:
Holy Week and Easter are fast approaching. All of you have been in my prayers throughout Lent, that you are taking the opportunity to experience God’s many graces during this Holy time. Seeking to be more Christlike, better Roman Catholic gentlemen and Exemplary Knights of Columbus, we need to take advantage of all opportunities for grace to grow truly holy as we have been called to be through Baptism. This means praying more fervently and more often, giving of our time, talent and treasure to help the less fortunate, and fasting from all elements that we might be overindulging in. Our Easter will certainly be more spectacular for us if we take the time now, to be infused with grace through the life giving generosity of our Father in Heaven. May God bless us and may Mary keep us always in His love! Fr. Corey Brothers: we stand near the beginning of another Lenten season. And this year, the church, the Body of Christ, finds itself in shame and harmed terribly by of all people, priests and bishops who are supposed to be our shepherds. This terrible reality needs our prayers, penance, fasting and sacrifice. We need to be leaders, doing more than others, to heal our church and restore it as best we can.
Take time to pray to the Blessed Mother and St. Michael the Archangel that our good shepherds, good men who want only good for the church will do what’s necessary to rid the church of this horrible scandal and that we will always protect victims of from any kind of harm or abuse. Let this be our Lenten pledge! May God bless us and may Mary keep us always in His love! Fr. Corey Brothers,
December is holy because of two special days. Dec. 8, the Feast of the immaculate Conception celebrating that from her conception and for eternity, Mary our Mother, was free from sin, so as to be able to fulfill her special role in Salvation history, the mother of Jesus Christ our savior. Remember to attend Mass this day as it is always a Holy Day of Obligation. And then the big day itself, Dec. 25, when great celebration is given to the Birth of Christ! The world and the Church need the presence and graces of being in love with Jesus Christ. We do this by virtuous living living out Christ’s life in the here and now. It will be my special prayer for my brothers and their loved ones experience Christ in new and wonderful ways during this special season. May God bless us and may Mary keep us always in His love! Fr. Corey The month of November again offers opportunities for many graces and blessings. We begin on
November 1 celebrating All Saints. The great saints we all know, and those living eternal life because of their holiness lived quietly and not necessarily formally canonized; parents, teachers, friends, all interceding for us at the throne of God. Remember we have an obligation to attend Mass on that day. November 2 is All Souls Day, our own feast where we pray for souls preparing for heaven, those suffering and all desiring to live more Christlike lives so as to be worthy of heaven. Thanksgiving, although a secular holiday, is a reflection of our whole faith life. Our faith, worship and Christian way of life is centered in “thanksgiving.” Our Eucharist is itself a sacrifice, a meal of Thanksgiving. I pray you have loved ones to be with on this beautiful, grace filled day. May the whole of November be a blessing to you and all your loved ones. May God bless us and may Mary keep us always in His love! Fr. Corey FATHER COREY’S CHAT
Brothers: Wow! Is summer upon us! Hot hot hot! Preparing for July 4 celebration and remembering the virtue of Patriotism and what it means to our brotherhood. Externally of course, the holiday means parades, the flag, patriotic songs, family gatherings, time off and rest. But the Virtue itself means so much more. Like our religious realities (Sacraments, prayer, worship, Scripture), Patriotism is a lot about Remembering! We need to remember our history, how we evolved as a nation, why we needed to evolve; Why freedom is so important to all humanity, to our nature as humans. Founding fathers and mothers recognized this and gave everything to secure it for us in becoming a nation. Certainly, in living out our patriotism today there are going to be differences of opinions and practices. But the very freedom we have, allows for this. It is also important for us as Church to recognize and present ourselves as good citizens, honoring our past and bringing our faith into our practices of citizenship (respect for all, pro-life laws and practices, racial equality, voting, etc.) Our first allegiance of course is to Almighty God and the Body of Christ, the Church. Patriotism in its many forms, can be and should be one of our best expressions of who we are as American, Catholic gentlemen. May God give us the grace to be just that. Happy Celebrating throughout July! May God bless us and may Mary keep us always in His love! Fr. Corey Brothers,
Peace be with you and your loved ones! June is here, let’s hope Mother Nature notices and sends some good weather our way. There are lots of graduations, weddings and vacations soon to commence. My suggestion for all the summer activities is, “bring Jesus with you” to all our summer celebrations, vacations, rest and relaxation. Rest and rejuvenation is necessary for the body and the soul. While enjoying nature, family and accomplishments, Jesus will love being invited to give you the ultimate rest only He can bring, PEACE. None of these activity need to be grand or costly. Gifting graduates with new respect and presence, wonderment of nature’s beauty, time with friends and family, all these are FREE and most important Prayer for others, instead of for self, time spent with Christ in the Eucharist, and the Rosary will “recharge “ the soul better than anything else. My prayer is that all of us, benefit from the graces of a new season, given by the loving Father, and spent with our brother Jesus Christ and His holy Mother, Mary! May God bless us and may Mary keep us always in His love! Fr. Corey |
