As we feel the great graces of the Christmas Season (which continues until the Feast of the Epiphany), we raise our hopes and commitments for 2015. I pray that this new year will be one of great graces and prosperity for you and your loved ones!
We should, I believe first seek to find the Lord more frequently in our lives during the coming year. If we frequent the Sacraments, Mass and Confession , we will find Him. If we bring Him into our homes in prayer and sacrifices, we will find Him. If we find new ways to feed the hungry, clothe the naked and comfort the homeless and the sick, we will find Him. If we work hard to protect the Unborn, the sanctity of Marriage and Religious Freedom, we will find Him.
We need to do this as individuals, as families and as the Order of the Knights of Columbus. This is our calling, our vocation. May we be diligent in fulfilling this noble calling.
In addition, this year is the Year of the Family and the Year of Consecrated Life! Please keep these two realities in our prayers throughout 2015. The Holy Father Francis, will be here in America for the Conference of the Family in Philadelphia. We must pray for his safe travel and for abundant graces to be experienced during his visit. Maybe some of us should consider attending!
We must also encourage more vocations to Consecrated Life. And I mean this, we need to pray that they come from our families, our community. It is often easy to pray that someone else’s family provide priests, sisters and brothers for the Church, but we fail or find it difficult to encourage our own children, grandchildren or family members to hear and answer God’s call. I believe God is still calling men and women to Church vocations but our young people often fear that won’t be supported in their willingness to respond. Let’s make 2015 different and make this cause a priority in our prayer and in our family life.
The Church needs us, Christ needs us, Let us re-commit in 2015!
May God Bless Us and May Mary keep us always in Her love!
