Brothers:
Peace!
October is one of my favorite months of the year. The weather is usually cool and the color of the trees is sometimes breathtaking. However, there are some very special spiritual realities to celebrate this month. Besides the activities of the Council and the Assembly, this month, along with May, is dedicated to Our Lady Mary, our Blessed Mother.
I hope you'll take the opportunity to pray the Rosary this month for the many intentions that we have personally, for the Order and for the world. Our brothers and sisters in Texas, Mexico, and the Caribbean, especially Puerto Rico need our prayers desperately and there is no one more spiritually powerful to receive our prayer and present them to her son, than Mary.
Some of you may remember that I was a Franciscan Friar for many years before coming to the Diocese of Syracuse. October 4 is the Feast of Saint Francis. I will be celebrating the Transitus, commemorating St. Francis' death on October 3 at 6:30 pm at St. Cyril's Church. This Saturday (Sept.28) we will have a Blessing of the Animals at St Vincent Blessed Sacrament at 1pm, followed by an Ice Cream Social and the Humane Society will be here with several pets for adoption, all in the spirit of Saint Francis!
Know that all of you are in my prayers constantly, especially at Mass and I beg the same from you. Vivat Jesu!
May God Bless Us and May Mary Keep Us Always in His Love!
