Peace be with you!

Allow me to introduce myself to those of you who do not know me, my name is Father Corey Van Kuren and I recently have been appointed Chaplain to Council 206 Knights of Columbus, of which I am very thankful.

I am presently serving at Binghamton University as Chaplain to the Newman House Catholic Community and I also serve as Manager of Pastoral Care for United Health Services, Wilson Hospital and Binghamton General Hospital. I have served Councils here in the Binghamton Area and in North Syracuse, NY and am a member of the K of C in Johnson City. I am also honored to be a 4th Degree Knight.

I cherish my membership in the Knights and count it as one of my greatest blessings. I also lament that I have not done more in recent years for my Council or Assembly. Hopefully returning to this position at 206 can make some amends for that. As part of my duties, I hope to be able to write regularly here on topics that are important to our Order and or lives as Knights.

We are gearing up for a return to school for many of our students. If you have children or grandchildren returning to school, or if you personally can remember, you know the excitement of a “new beginning” that a school year represents. Recalling that, maybe we too can become excited about beginning anew, in our dedication to our families, the Church and the Order. We owe so much for what we have received from God, now is a good time for us to re-dedicate ourselves to the service we have promised. As a Knight, we need to begin again, to attend meetings, to renew our Spiritual lives, offer ourselves to the Order's works for our brothers and sisters, take every opportunity to defend our Church as it is often under siege.

I hope to meet many of you at meetings and events of the Order. Won't you please join me again by joining your BROTHERS at our meetings (and bring a friend)? We have so much to do and we can't do it without you! See you at the next meeting!!!!

God Bless and may Mary Keep Us Always In His Love!

 Fr. Corey
